Normally your printer will mark a maximum width and diameter of the roll and you can always put a roll that is smaller in size, at least with respect to the diameter, since the diameter indicated is obviously when the roll is unstarted, as it wears out it will be reduced, for this reason you can always put a roll with a diameter smaller than the maximum allowed by your printer.
