It is very simple: we usually forget to clean the printheads. We need to keep track of it so the printer doesn’t leave any stains on our copies. Then, how can I clean the printheads of the Brother multifunction printers?

First, we need to know what a printhead is. This is the device through which the Brother ink exits to print. That’s why residues start accumulating and staining the copies. Do you understand why is it necessary to maintain the printheads clean?

The easiest solution is cleaning the printhead from the Ink key. We’ll start trying until the copies improve. However, sometimes this does not work and we need to clean the printhead otherwise.

How to clean the printhead of a Brother MFC multifunction printer with Fax?

  • Press “Menu *2868”.
  • Then the message “MAINTENANCE” will appear on the screen.

How to clean the printhead of a Brother DCP multifunction printer without Fax?

  • Unplug your printer and plug it again while pressing “MENU”.
  • Then the message “MAINTENANCE” will appear on the screen.

Once you have followed these steps, these are the instructions they have in common. There are two ways to clean the printheads:

A) PRINTHEAD CLEANING 1

  • Introduce the number “63”
  • Introduce the number “1”
  • The printer will show “HEAD LOCKED”.
  • Unplug and plug the printer again.

The cleaning process is now finished.

B) PRINTHEAD CLEANING 2

  • Introduce the number “76”
  • Introduce the number “3”
  • Press “black copy”.

The cleaning process is now finished.
